Gavraiban Jungle Trek: A Quiet Journey Through the Sahyadris Near Pune

Gauraiban Trek, or the Gavraiban Jungle Trek, is a trek located in Pune district, in the landscape of Tamhini Ghat and Mulshi. The trail is usually accessed from the Pimpri side of Tamhini and the trekkers would traverse through a village environment, agricultural fields, thick forest, seasonal streams and open areas that look out onto the Sahyadri ranges. For people travelling from Pune, the trek is particularly convenient because the Gavraiban area is roughly 60–70 km from Pune by road, depending on the starting point in the city and the exact trailhead used by the trekking organiser. The road normally leads towards Pirangut, Paud and Mulshi and does not stop at Tamhini Ghat but on the Pimpri side. The attraction here is not a fort or a single summit. Gavraiban is concerned with enjoying the scenery of the forest and mountains in the Tamhini-Mulshi belt, especially during those seasons when the monsoon showers the land with greenery, streams, waterfalls and mist.
